Had an older brother.
Sir William de Rydeware, or William de Hamstall, was the younger son
of the first William de Rydeware and succeeded his eldest brother. He
was a knight and lord of the manor of Hamstall Rideware, and was also
of Edinghale, and of Seile, County Leicester, in the reign of Henry
II. Henry II (1154-1189) issued a write to Robert de Stafford, commanding
that William de Rydeware shall hold peaceable his lands of Rydeware
and Edinghale, and the same Robert de Stafford with Avicia, his wife,
and his son Robert, confirmed and attested Robert de Cappe's and his
elder brother Simon's release to William de Rydeware of their claim
of the land of Rydeware, on account of which quitclaim the said William
gave to said Robert one mark of silver, one horse, with saddle and bridle
etc, and to the said Simon half a mark with his "cloak and tunick".
