"An extract from a book Brewed in America by Stanley Baron briefly mentions
Henry and Mary Babcock, who I believe are the parents of Hannah Babcock
whom John Knight (? - 1728) married in 1718 following his first wife's
death.
My Aunt Lucille records that Henry and Mary (Browne) Babcock wed in
Philadelphia in 1688 and that Hannah Babcock was born in Philadelphia.
This contradicts her birth in Longhope, Gloucester, England, in 2 May
1697. However, my Aunt Lucille writes that her birth was not recorded,
so is it possible that the Babcocks had returned to England and Hannah
was born during this visit?
Through the Babcocks it would appear that we have North American lineage
dating to at least 1688, the year they wed. I believe they are my great,
great, great, great, great, great, great grandparents"
